Thidampu is an idol that stands outside the temples duding festivel times and special puja times. The purpose behind the thidambu(kolam) is to bring out the deity (Devan/Devi). In festive occasions it is giving darshanasujya to the devotees. In some areas it is also known as the thumping rule. Since it is impossible to bring the real idol out of the sanctum sanctorum, all the temples have an Thidambu idol for erection for out side view for the devotives. Traditional art and crafts making fancy and original thidmabu for temples and home temples. It is also using for a home décor with a tradition and spiritual feeling to home or office.
