Kadakali is the most famous classical art of Kerala. Kathakali is originated from the Ramanattam, invented by the faimous royal family Kottarakkara Thampuran in the 17th century. The theater is dramatic and colourful with Kathakali falls under the category of Nrityam, which is based on the Indian classical dance concept. The actors of Kadakali is dressed in colorful costumes and perform the choreography of the singers through handshakes and face impressions of dances. Kathakali has absorbed elements of Kerala rituals such as Theyyam, Thira, Mudiyate and Padayani and classical arts like Koothu, Koodiyattam and Krishnanatom.
